Through Our Eyes students traveled south to get the real story behind the Hollywood movie Mississippi Burning. By interviewing veterans of the Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964, family members of slain civil rights workers, and the movie’s producer, the students were able to analyze the historical accuracy and impact of the popular movie.

Spending a week in the south was an intense experience for a group of Bronx bred young people. They recorded their reflections about their experiences in a booklet entitled Mississippi Notations, which can be downloaded here.
