Fannie Lou TV (FLTV)

FLTV began in Fall 2008 when several teachers at Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School decided to structure their classes as a two-month simulation of the 2008 presidential election. One class became the Obama Campaign, one class became the McCain Campaign, another became left-wing advocacy groups, one became right-wing advocacy groups, and my class became FLTV - the online news media.
The election simulation energized the school and revealed how central the FLTV broadcasts were to informing and engaging the school community in interactive dialogue. FLTV then became an on-going production class at the school and is an integral part of the school culture.
As of 2012, FLTV has produced 19 episodes on a myriad of issues of concern and interest to young people.
